Anyone else starting to get worried about this rise of casual open imperialism? Like, not "peaceful trade at prices social justice activists don't like" imperialism but actual "let's go conquer stuff" imperialism. I know it's "meant to be a joke", but often such jokes are a first step to normalizing something dark...

I was already worried about casual hegemony, ngl. contrary to the imperialists, there seemed to be a casual mix of anarchism in some areas and totalitarianism in others, completely covert to the extent that it's so normalized.

which is sort of the tone with the jokes, that they're so overt they're debatably harmless, and one might say the same about ironic/satirical humor spreading other politics.

in any case, this mindset would be moot in any real interaction between Canada and the U.S., since there's other international nuances that are completely missing from that content.
