yeah, I remember the news about Tony, seems like he was a positive influence & needed more of the same. 

what's the compromise of the Bay Area for misfits? how do we cooperate from a distance, or is there a hard line in the sand that the only common ground that matters is colocated?

I think I am scared off from the idea of building a new ecosystem. I was so sad to read the recent new biographies on Tony Hsieh for instance. 

At YC we have discovered that the Bay Area is really something else. By the numbers it is the single biggest thing you can do to improve your chance of being successful.
