Most founders should be going to the office instead of conferences.

Yet, the exact opposite happens in crypto. Way more than any other market.

Why?

I agree there’s a lot of that. 

I do appreciate the value of events early on, it was a small event where I was “converted” back in 2016. 

But some people seem to make it their life’s work.

Yes.

I think because often going to a conference feels like work is getting done when, in fact, it’s largely not. Activity gets confused for progress.

Not sure why it’s worse in crypto. Perhaps inertia of early/existing cultural norms, certain founder profile attracted to it, etc.

It does make sense for some. But I see people whose companies are not really dependent on BD hopping from conference to conference. Feels more like fun vs. survival instincts

In crypto is tech is way ahead of use case right now. BD is crucial for startup survival.

When you have effective Marketing/branding you go to the office when there is not and you need to sell go to conferences.
