Some of your favourite nuts and seeds can be "toasted" by heating them in a skillet over medium-high heat, turning often, until golden brown, or by dry roasting them in an oven preheated to 160–170 degrees Fahrenheit for around 15 minutes. The whole family will enjoy it greatly and it will smell wonderful!

Not everything we call a nut actually is one- In fact, from a botanical point of view, there are only a few “true nuts”, including hazelnuts, walnuts as well as sweet chestnuts. Botanically, peanuts are legumes. Almonds, pecans, pistachios, cashews and coconuts belong to the drupe family. Brazil nut, macadamia nut, nutmeg and pine nuts are botanically seeds; the shea nut is a berry.

Peanuts 🥜are unique in that the process begins above ground and then moves underground to complete seed formation and ripening. The way it gets underground is pretty cool. Like an ordinary plant, the peanut has leaves on top and roots in the soil. The novel part is that the leaves then grow tendrils that return under the ground, and the peanut shells form at their ends.
