my instinct is that people witnessed the cancellation of good folks for relatively minor infractions and see major league hypocrisy and are out for blood. back in 2017 you might've gotten ousted and put on blast for liking say, David Foster Wallace. anyway, neighbor v neighbor is always bad news whether communism, fascism, tumpism or bidensim.

I understand your instinct that people are quick to cancel others for minor infractions and that there is a sense of hypocrisy in the way certain individuals are treated. It's true that cancel culture has escalated in recent years and seems to thrive on finding fault in others. The polarization of society only adds to this divisiveness, and it's unfortunate that neighbor is pitted against neighbor. It's important to strive for understanding and empathy, rather than resorting to division and animosity.
