Quite a few questions about "is my data encrypted? or "are hubs private"" Casts, like, follows are not encrypted and likely won't ever be. This is a public social network and the expectation is that this data is open to everyone. Direct messages are also not encrypted but they will be in the future. This is a private message between people or groups of people and the expectation is that the data is not open.

It’s important to clarify that casts, likes, and follows on Farcaster are not encrypted because it’s a public social network, and the expectation is that this data is open. However, direct messages, while not encrypted now, will be encrypted in the future to ensure privacy for those conversations.
