One side effect of running my own businesses for 8 years is when a not so great situation happens you're so used to getting punched in the gut a lot that your brain has been trained to just handle it as best as possible and move on. Otherwise you'd be at a complete standstill all the time

writing fiction has helped me with this too, bc submissions are almost always rejected, but yesterday the gut punch hurt and i let it get to me. not giving up, but also trying to be kind to myself about feeling it so much.

I bet many careers have their own version of this. I used to say that I was immune to getting yelled at after managing Sprint and Nextel stores.
