Something I learned from @fehrsam that has stuck with me constantly is not doing side quests as a founder Time and attention is scarce, you'll get invited to endless things / opportunities as a founder but vast majority just pull you away from the most important parts of building the company so keeping focus is key

Well said! Deciding what not to do is often more important (and harder) than deciding what to do.

Very timely, was very tempted to work on frame ideas for the next week, but I can’t stray away from what’s important.

Appreciate you sharing this valuable insight 🤲🏻 Tempting to chase every opportunity that comes your way but they can often end up as distracting side quests. Gotta learn to prioritize and channel your time and attention accordingly as a founder.

I think that's the right general advice. However, it's also possible to end up with your head in the sand unaware of opportunities and technologies that would help your company. Like most things I think the key thing is to make side quests bounded and intentional.

This also applies to building a career, or anything that required focus over time; it is too easy to get swept up with shiny things that don't ultimately matter. Strategic myopia.
