Who here repurposes food waste? Composting, new dishes, or other methods.

Just started composting food scraps. Thought it would make our kitchen smell like rot, but I barely notice it.

Yep. Onion skins, avocado stones, black bean water etc. โ€”> Natural dyeing. The first two contribute to this (with iron/gallnut for the grey).

Left over ingredients are just a reason to experiment! Sometimes you need the compost - along with all the other things that can be composted because East Bay runs an industrial composter๐Ÿค™

I was big into composting during the pandemic but slowly stopped as I got busier around the house. In short, we set aside a bin for food scraps (excluding protein, dairy, citrus) and on a weekly basis Iโ€™d dump it into a rotating cylinder. Add dry yard waste, some water, and spin 2-3 times per week. Net: black gold!

If you have any garden space I can very much recommend chickens. They like virtually everything plus you get eggs.
