Ever noticed how JD Vance and AOC sound kind of similar when they talk about U.S. military restraint and corporate power? They come at it from different philosophies but they wind up at the same place in several respects. While they may disagree fiercely on other social and economic issues they share similar skepticism of foreign policy overreach and financial recklessness. This is due to what I would see as “generational turnover.” 

Both of these people are millennials and thus of a generation whose formative political experience was not the triumphant end of the Cold War but the disastrous war in Iraq and 2008 financial crisis. As such, they have a shared definition of what seems like common-sense on a number of subjects irrespective of political ideology. The rise of millennial politicians is going to create a new baseline of normal in the country as the older generations pass on. As a millennial with similar influences I believe it will be mostly welcome or at least make politics feel more relevant.

If you see deeply enough, you can see how this theme is the accelerant in a fire for the ideas of e/acc. We no longer should wait a full generation for mutually beneficial changes. That's the way of the old.
