Absolutely love the diversity of thought here, pointing at different things. Farcaster is far more diverse than I originally thought.

the ratio btw creators/consumers will likely not change imo. one way i think of it though is to redefine the definition of “creators” more people “curate” than create, so our thesis with @perl is to create a place where bigger subset of consumers become “creators” by curating first.

It’s powerful, and I understand the need to add to public voice. BUT lurkers are imp and I feel like most folks look at + prioritize the wrong metrics.

Further, if you have to beg a population to indulge you, then any change won't be lasting enough to make a difference. Or the wrong people will take the bait, further skewing the pretend dialog in a direction that alienates the other sides. Good leaders can unify people rhetorically. This won't be that. Ever.

Asking lurkers to stop lurking requires an incentive. Eon wants Twitter to be a "public dialog" platform, but it isn't. It's a one-sided-opinion-projection platform. And that's what the lurkers are there for - to receive, not engage.

It’s pretty much internet rule honestly. 1% create content, 9% engage with it, 90% lurk!

Honestly like he just discovered the 1/9/90 rule, and it is his 1 man attempt to negate it now that it’s in his interest to do so.

Actually engagement boosts for new users may help. Mostly it’s difficult to start due to low engagement

consuming content and not creating is a losing game on many fronts. consumption becomes marginal and noisey. creation leads to a brand, network, and validation/invalidation of thoughts

Pareto distribution or "80-20" rule stating that 80% of outcomes are due to 20% of causes, a pattern observed in natural phenomena and social activities - could be at play. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Thus, it could be expected that 20% of tweeters/casters are responsible for all tweets/casts. 80% just consumes them. :)
