What do you consider your phone number to be? Anon, pseudo, or full-id? What would classify as full-id (aka kyc)?

Thank you for these responses. Gives a lot to think about. I see phone # as full-id too. Noodling how the data is siloed (across entire telco network and +), phone numbers may hold same keys as anon->pseudo->full-I’d, when interacting between diff networks, with bridges. Not much diff than web3 rn. Dunno. Thinkin

FULL-ID in india phone numbers are attached to a national id card (aadhar card).

My primary is full-id for sure. It’s treated as compromised and untrustworthy for security but still valuable for communication. I have a few others that are for different purposes on a spectrum of anon or pseudo.

Full ID if given to an individual, pseudo if for an app/company, somewhere in between as an email sign-off (listed to encourage network effect — and if I’m emailing you, I’d probably respond to a text or voicemail from you, anyway).

My phone number is quite literally my ID. The SIM card has a KYCed multi-PIN protected hardware private key in it that is used as a Qualified Electronic Signature. Meaning it can be used to sign in to government services, banks and even sign legally binding agreements like founding a company or getting a mortgage.

I consider my phone number to be one of two universal addresses I can give to almost anyone and know they will be able to reach me. (The other is an email address.) It's full-id for most today. We (3num.co) are making a pseudonymous one you can mint as an NFT.

Phone number is full-id because it can easily be traced back to you, but this is only because it used to be a unique and useful identifier. If it weren’t for existing databases of it, I’d say phone number is much less intrusive than name/social media/age
