Your M chip Mac book pro is actually more powerful than the medium or large AWS instances. Just because it runs like a champ on your machine doesn’t mean it’ll run like that on production.

the corollary: AWS charges like $300/mo to rent hardware that compares to the toaster you are developing on. cloud hardware comes at a tremendous premium. this includes GCP, Azure, vercel, fly, and all managed DB solutions. if you are on a budget, consider baremetal from day 1.

I did an analysis of hubs and the distribution of them and turns out the reason why there are so many hubs in Germany is because Hetzner is so cheap

makes sense! i think i remember that eth mainnet also had a significant proportion of validators on hetzner too, for a while, until they disallowed it (but i kept running mine on hetzner for another 6mo+ without any hassle)

vultr is also underrated here, slightly pricier but still *very* attractive baremetal prices
