Prediction market has been touted as one of the potential killer apps of crypto, but no breakout product yet. Thoughts on why?

My quick takes are 1) hard to get liquidity unless huge events like a presidential election, and 2) payout conditions and odds are hard to understand.

i think we should decouple them from $ 

people can be motivated by wanting to be right and not just speculating on what will play them

I agree, but to get it to take off faster I think making it fun vs a tool to make money would go a long way

They are different, and there is a place for both, e.g., you can't use it as hedge risks against a certain event if $ is not involved, you put different weight on predictions based on $ behind it, who predicted, etc.
