In a rare case, a satellite has survived a collision with a small piece of space debris or micrometeoroid, and we can see the aftermath of that collision. A 6-millimeter-diameter hole in the solar panel of NanoAvionics' MP42 satellite was photographed by a camera on board the spacecraft. In this case, it did not affect the satellite's performance, and no loss of efficiency of the solar panels was even recorded. However, if the object that caused the hole had been larger, the situation could have been different.
