I visited Tarapoto last October. It is an amazing part of Peru.

Never went up there. Is it Amazonian forest or andean-like?

I will have that in mind! Águas Calientes is the closest i got to Amazon and it was amazing enough for me to want more. 

It’s sad though because I am no courageous enough to go to Brazilian or Bolivian or Colombian Amazon. But maybe Peruvian amazon is more chilled out.

Amazonian. Beautiful! Full of waterfalls and pristine jungle. Everything grows there. There is a good road connection to southern part of Pacaya Samiria if you fancy that
