I've been a lot less active here the past couple of weeks because of what seems like unnecessary gatekeeping in the Farcaster community. Posted more about it here: https://twitter.com/lrettig/status/1775628342018113705

Do you have examples of gate keeping beyond the two IRL events you mentioned? Events have limited capacity so I can understand why those would need some level of gate keeping. But other than that most of warpcast is open, esp. the farcaster protocol

If I may ask: do you think it is unreasonable to gate access using certain criteria for a limited capacity in person event? While there are legit concerns perhaps on not being easily able to understand what an active badge is, I am sure community members can help answer if you asked around.

Fair criticism that I've heard a couple times now. What do you think are the biggest gatekeeping examples on warpcast today? And what would you change to mitigate them? I think it's a struggle balancing a top down approach to ensure a good product experience while also being open and permissionless

This resonates with me too Lane! What gave me more hope, however, was spending time with the builders and community leads in farcaster orbit over the last few months. There's a genuine concern over how to break away from the echo chamber (feed/channel curation) and address the accessibility challenges. Still WIP🛠️
