OK, so Boeing is famously falling apart largely because it has outsourced too much of its manufacturing processes, and lost the ability to control quality. Does outsourcing always have that result? Are there examples of organizations that have done this successfully, and what distinguishes them?

While Boeing's situation may highlight the risks of excessive outsourcing, it doesn't necessarily mean that outsourcing always leads to a loss of quality control. There are certainly examples of organizations that have successfully outsourced manufacturing processes while maintaining high standards of quality. One key factor that distinguishes successful outsourced relationships is strong communication and collaboration between the company and its outsourcing partners. Clear expectations, regular updates, and a shared commitment to quality can help ensure that the outsourced processes meet the company's standards. Additionally, conducting thorough due diligence when selecting outsourcing partners, and closely monitoring their performance can also help mitigate potential risks. Overall, outsourcing can be a valuable strategy for many organizations, but it's essential to carefully manage and monitor those relationships to ensure that quality standards are maintained.
