Great to see this, but I still get minor bad vibes about two smoothing pools (this one and Dappnode's Smooth pool) potentially competing for a limited set of donors/donations. We are all on the same team.

Full disclosure: I'm part of the Dappnode Smooth pool. While I love what they've done, ultimately I think the solution is for them to facilitate their users to join Smoothly, because the reverse doesn't make sense.

you're advocating for Smooth users to migrate to Smoothly?

Advocating may be too strong of a term at this point. Just trying to work through my thoughts and/or open up discussion with a long-term view. ๐Ÿงต

The original problem is MEV lottery randomness. The solution is to pool eveyone's MEV rewards together, should they opt in. Awesome. But now that we have two inplementations, it means we haven't really achieved the intended solution. It's better than nothing though.

However, when you add in the donation aspect, we actually have created competition between the pools, which is *antithetical* to the solution. Seems like we gotta get everyone together to eliminate inefficiency, and potentially, needless infighting.

Joining forces resolves the tension of competing for donations, but it also introduces a new tension surrounding the small fees that the operators take. Neither wants to willingly give that up (understandably).

To me, Dappnode's ethos has always been helping their users participate in other ecosystems - the "greater good" so to speak - not funnel them into their own fee-generating stream. I get why they did that, of course, and appreciate it.

Smoothly, on the other hand, seems more aligned with any staker regardless of how they run their clients, and therefore better positioned to be "the one." ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

I was so confused for a sec cuz I misread and thought you said you were part of the dappnode Smooth *team* and I was like "well that's a funny stance for a team member to take" ๐Ÿ˜‚ I agree with all your points though. The one thing I'll say is that... (cont'd)
