What is the reason that we speak different languages in different parts of the world? If we all originated from the same descendants shouldn’t all languages be very similar? 

And wouldn’t it make more sense to have a common language so that when information is passed down through generations,

the essence is not lost in translation. Having different languages just means that over a significant amount of time, history becomes a one big game of Chinese whisper?
