The most ancient tribes on the territory of China settled, as in other ancient Eastern civilizations, in the valleys of large rivers, the main one of which was the Yellow River. One of these tribes, which called itself Shan (neighbors gave it the name Yin), was able closer to the middle of the II millennium BC. e. to create the first state. It is during this period that the foundations of ancient Chinese culture begin to be laid. Spinning, bronze casting, hieroglyphic writing were invented, and the foundations of urban planning were born.

Housing is one of the most pressing issues of the People's Republic of China. Those who cannot afford their own apartment often use capsule rooms: a 2 square meter room with only a bed.

The panda is one of the many symbols of China. These cute bears live only in the PRC, other countries can only temporarily "rent" a panda. And for killing a panda, you risk receiving the death penalty.

From 1850 until 2015, there was a law in China that allowed only one child per family. However, due to the aging of the nation, the permission was extended to two children. By the way, the Chinese prefer to give birth to boys rather than girls. And in most cases, the female gender is the main cause of abortions.

In addition to the Great Wall of China, there is also the "Green Wall of China". Its goal is to stop the rapid expansion of the desert by planting shrubs and trees. After all, every year the desert absorbs about 1,000 square meters. km and today it occupies a third of the entire territory of China.

The People's Republic of China has no official religion. The main share of belief among the population consists of Buddhism (more than 18%). It works well with other religions such as Taoism, Confucianism, Christianity and even Islam.

The capital of the People's Republic of China, Beijing, has repeatedly changed its name throughout its history. So, at one time the city was called Yanjing ("the capital of Yan") and Beiping ("Northern Calm"). By the way, the name Beijing does not correspond to the modern Chinese pronunciation,

"Heavenly", "Middle Kingdom" - this is how China was called throughout its many centuries of history. For a person brought up by European culture, the traditions of this eastern country seem not only unusual, but also quite strange in some places.
