The most ancient tribes on the territory of China settled, as in other ancient Eastern civilizations, in the valleys of large rivers, the main one of which was the Yellow River. One of these tribes, which called itself Shan (neighbors gave it the name Yin), was able closer to the middle of the II millennium BC. e. to create the first state.
