It's the time of year where I live when the consistent drizzle coats every rough surface with a slick film while the leaves congregate in tenuous piles on top of the persistent puddles. Some cling to each other for safety as others slip from the group's wet embrace and float away on the slick, shallow streams, carried to rest at Winter's feet as she begins her march.
