I think FC might never directly compete with larger social media networks. Instead, it seems to have found its niche with it being a more thoughtful and intelligent place for builders, seekers, and digital wanderers who are looking for an oasis online where the discourse is different than the rabble of other social communities. @dwr.eth has done an amazing job of building and sustaining the vibes here. You can hyperfocus on the tech and algorithms all you want but the vibes of a social platform end up defining it. We all have an idea of the vibe on Reddit, Tik Tok, 4chan, and Facebook. If I asked you to define the vibes on these platforms you would easily be able to do so. You care about that first before the tech behind it. Dan has fostered a great community and made the vibes stay good here. That’s more important than any technical change he could add to the site.
