I was mediating on this yesterday & have come up neutral on channels as they present today but I’m long on flexible context-containers 

- ‘private’ group chats act as channels but have a less clear path & timeline for decentralization 
-apps using frame technology can & do siphon users into their context 
-flexible app namespaces eg by signer (should that happen) will create context-containers (a good thing imo)

all create a new type of meta-channel if you will that could make existing (rented) channels less relevant.
