I'm continuing my foray into Korean popular media with these two hits: 1. Squid game 🦑 There was a very similar theme with Flower of Evil - basically that it's important to protect the purity of your soul even in life & death situations. Desperately want to find some commentary on that, it felt like a very Christian theme, but maybe it's influenced by something else? 2. Train to Busan 🚉 Zombie movies are probably my least favourite genre, there's really nothing in them except drama and fighting. And the drama part was great! I definitely didn't expect to cry, but I did 🥲 What should I watch next? https://nook.social/content/fa1f9957-924f-44d6-8f42-a2247f101744

I once came across a review suggesting that Squid Game can be interpreted as an allegory of the Last Judgment, where every person is held accountable for their actions: - Unfair and cruel participants meet their end - Those who retain their humanity, even partially, are given a chance for redemption. - The observing elites symbolize forces that do not directly partake in suffering but control it, evoking an image of demonic powers seeking to destroy human souls
