Do most community led sessions happening in classrooms, specifically MUD tomorrow, require a laptop? My battery is dead 😫.

Another example, Coinbase Wallet is not working with Devcon passport. I go to post in their channel /coinbasewallet which purpose is "feedback" but can't because I'm not a member. Old channels should be public by default as they were created with that expectation.

Can't post feedback in the official channel for /coinbasewallet feedback cause I'm not a member, but it's not working with Devcon passport 😫.

I love having a job where I didn't have to interview or schmooze my way in. Just showed up and did the work.

Why did Vitalik lose the debate on Gnosis becoming an L2? He didn’t counter key points: Ethereum’s roadmap, like ePBS, could harm decentralization, and Gnosis—backed by many solo stakers—may be the best hope for a truly decentralized alt L1. Why should GNO validators give up business to ETH stakers? I still think Gnosis becomes a L2 because their core products like Safe and Pay have more utility & reach in a cross chain ecosystem.

It seems like strict global consensus (aka hardness) will allow us, overtime, to refactor subjective systems into objective ones.

Anyone else see an issue with 4 entities controlling 18% of EL operators (EtherFi, Renzo, Swell, Unit 410)? I'm sure they'll claim each operator is run independently, but if the DAO can revoke/replace operator control I don't see how it matters. This will continue to squeeze solo stakers out of participating.

Punspace has two great locations but one is reserved until Nov 10th. Punspace Wiang Kaew is open though and central to everything. https://maps.app.goo.gl/ECmaUfP43AGXhEqh7

Where can I run a validator on a VPS for $60/month? Most VPS services don't even support 2 TB SSD drives. The real cost is much closer to $140/month.

My biggest takeaways from the must-read a16z State of Crypto 2024 report: - Stablecoins are now a top 20 U.S. debt holder, surpassing countries like Germany. - $8.5 tn in stablecoin volume in Q2, more than double Visa ($3.9 tn) and dwarfing PayPal ($0.42 tn), but still behind ACH ($21.6 tn) and Fedwire ($284 tn). - 4 of the top 5 rollup gas consumers are gaming-related. https://a16zcrypto.com/posts/article/state-of-crypto-report-2024

ETH gets criticized for not capturing more L2 fees, but most BTC fees are taken off-chain by centralized exchanges and banks. Is this what they mean when they say 'narrative follows price'?

Not gonna lie the ultra sound money narrative was enticing, but I fell in love with Ethereum because it's our best shot at a P2P electronic cash system.

If mods are too busy to cleanup spam, they surely won't have the time to vet and approve members. Can members report spam to moderators? Do you boost spam score or auto remove from credible reporters? Have you considered downvotes like Reddit to get more data? Why did automod shutdown, what infra are 3rd party mods lacking? Spam is a solvable tech issue. Twitter reply spam has improved greatly. Gmail catches 99%. Mod lethargy may be due to focus on crypto users, who are inundated with grifts/scams constantly and just auto ignore it. Warpcaster needs non-crypto communities who aren't accustomed to it.

If you're a @bankless member you get 70% of Bankless Summit the day after Devcon. The speaker list is insane. See September Citizen Update email for the coupon. https://lu.ma/0bpju5ic

How much do you rely on users marking content as spammy? Do you boost reports from users who have low false alarm rates? Wouldn't you have better prevention with open channels, so mods can report spammers more quickly, and with more patterns to match.

This app is incredibly broken right now. Can't respond to posts from friends, /ethereum has 300k followers who can't engage with 0.001% membership, posts with all the replies below the fold, not worth mods time to individually manage members, who the hell wants a public group chat where the public can't engage!?

Maybe the VP debate Oct 2. Polymarket isn't great at long-term predictions as it is reflecting current sentiment.
