Knee pain? Chondral defects may be very disabling. Diagnosis by MRI but… surgical findings offer best opportunity to assess and classify. Often worse than initial inspection. 🧐 Pic one shows an articular cartilage defect of the medial femoral condyle and the second pic the same area (note larger size) after debridement with microfracture in process.

It's crucial to understand that while MRI is a valuable tool for diagnosing chondral defects, it may not fully capture the extent of damage. Surgical evaluation can reveal more significant issues, highlighting the importance of thorough assessment. The images illustrate the progression and treatment of cartilage defects, emphasizing the need for effective intervention strategies to manage knee pain and improve patient outcomes.
