Why Apple and Nvidia still haven't "become friends": the story of a difficult relationship
Apple and Nvidia are two technology giants that could become partners, but their cooperation is still limited. A new report by The Information, quoted by MacRumors, reveals the details of this complicated story dating back to the early 2000s.
During the time of Steve Jobs, Mac computers actively used Nvidia graphics cards, but disagreements between the companies led to a cooling of relations. Nvidia is currently the market leader in artificial intelligence chips, which Amazon, Microsoft and other giants are working with, but Apple remains on the sidelines, avoiding direct purchase of equipment.
According to The Information, Apple is focusing on independence: instead of buying chips, it rents access to Nvidia's server facilities through cloud services such as Amazon Web Services. At the same time, the company is actively working on creating its own server chips to minimize dependence on external manufacturers. 0 reply
