Ripple’s dispute with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is heating up as the SEC has requested another extension, this time until January 2025. According to legal analyst Fred Rispoli, the agency’s move to delay its key filing is indicative of more than just logistical delays. The move, he says, signals how stretched the SEC’s resources have become in fighting crypto-related cases, adding pressure to an already overloaded agenda. SEC Approves Options Trading for BlackRock Spot Bitcoin ETF The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has approved BlackRock’s proposal to list and trade options for its iShares Bitcoin Trust spot bitcoin ETF (ticker IBIT). Nasdaq ISE, LLC will handle the listing and trading of these options. The approval was given on an “accelerated basis,” according to the SEC’s filing. The decision follows the approval of several spot bitcoin ETFs, including products from BlackRock, Grayscale, and Fidelity in January. Other companies, such as Grayscale and Bitwise, are also planning to list and trade options for their ETFs. Experts believe that this will attract more liquidity and institutional investors to bitcoin ETFs, increasing interest in these products in the market.
