The Optimism Foundation reverted the L2 network to a permissioned mode after discovering vulnerabilities in the Fault Proof mechanism, which was introduced in July for transaction verification. These issues were identified by auditing firms Spearbit, Cantina, and Code4rena.

Although the vulnerabilities were not exploited and user assets remain secure, the decision was made to activate a fallback mode to prevent instability.
