seems like more of a scale issue than one of a channel ui/ux issue if farcaster had 1m DAUs channel experience could be totally different not saying channels are perfect today either

check the channels video feed on streamm.tv and you will see a lot of unique profiles you couldn't find otherwise. imo its a medium issue: as long as most of the farcaster clients are focused on text, we will continue seeing the same faces everywhere - no matter the channel/client.

i agree with this, today most channels feel more like tags than communities what's missing is a sense of "membership" and that membership having meaning i don't feel like moxie is the entire answer but i think it can be a nice lego towards some interesting solutions, especially if you have to pay cast in a channel and share the rewards when all channel casts earn moxie - channels you have to pay to cast in, not a paid fan at a certain level than you can only read - instant ban if you paid and cast nonsense - skin in the game: your paying gets you access to participate in rewards earned by the channel and fans-only features made avail it's a start

Much needed discussion as we are still very early and a lot can change with scale. Right now we DO see a lot of the same faces because there aren't many active channels and when a connection creates a new channel their same followers want to support and join. We DO need channel admins to take more ownership and lead the communities they started (esp. keywords snagged for squatting or future use). Or let inactive channels archive and go away. From my side we are building a tool for channels to help surface members who want to engage and better connect with other members. We hope as more services like this are made available it will help channels find their footing.

I agree with this. We need a solution! Channels have progressively lowered my motivation to cast as compared to before since I have no idea if anyone who might want to see it will. And this has possibly contributed to spending more time on the bird app. Can we bring back main?

I see only a few quality channels. Others are very noisy and not attractive. In the few different communities (often the ones with a token), the same powerusers happen to be leaders. More people & clean, well-run (> modded) channels can make a difference. I'm thinking of /football which could be a daily channel for me - it just isn't good in quality yet to engage daily.
