We need a movement for offline spaces, just like walkable cities. Faraday cage environments where phones and laptops simply don’t work. Libraries with pencil and paper and no distractions. Laptops without WiFi chips, so you can type offline and then sync back manually via USB or Ethernet when you want. Restaurants with phone lockers at the front, where everyone must check in devices beforehand. What else?

If we live in a simulation anyway, why not create another sim—one layer deeper—that’s purely “physical,” with no devices, electronics, internet, ads, noise, etc. No dopamine rush. Light would come from plants, we could deploy wings and fly. And it would be more realistic than this layer of simulation—so why wouldn’t people spend more of their time there? And BTW, time could pass relatively faster in the sim, so we could experience way more.
