We are delighted to be in the @glodollar x @optimism Builders round on @gitcoin! We keep a good chunk of our current treasury in USDGLO and think everyone else should do the same to support public goods! If you have some funds to spare, we'd appreciate some love. 💚 https://explorer.gitcoin.co/#/round/10/96/10

Good point about the tone. Something did feel off, however my conclusion was that it was so that we could endure the madness along with Muncie, along with not knowing who the actual villain was until near the end. It was a solid 6/10 for me.

The symptoms of information overload. We all suffer from it, yet talking about it hasn't been normalized. So few are ready to admit they're susceptible to dis/misinformation. What's the "cure", though? Consume less info? Hide in an echo chamber where it doesn't matter what's true? Don't believe anything unless presented with ironclad evidence? Put yourself under such cognitive load that you don't have mental energy to do anything else? It's interesting to read into what the brain does when it's overloaded with information. It responds best to stuff you already agree with or stuff that provokes a strong emotional response. We really need to be talking openly about this.

Started on Squid Game 2. Ten minutes into the first episode, it struck me that the existence of the police officer and his desire to find the island means the second season doesn't have to rely on the "games where people die" premise that so shocked us in the first season. I can already sense the imminent showdown and am looking forward to see how it unfolds. Good technique for fiction writers out there!

Ah, yes. I watched a recap recently that made absolutely no sense. It was as if I had watched a completely different show. 😂

I do wonder what the criteria is for adding recaps to new seasons. Sometimes they have them other times they are desperately needed and not there.

I used it in my second novel after some minutes of furious Googling to figure out what that thing was called. We clearly don't spend enough time at 5-star hotels... 🤣

Haven't seen Utopia, but looks interesting! I have Black Earth Rising on my list but can't bring myself to watch it, despite positive reviews from everyone I've talked to about it. The Shadow Line and The Honorable Woman look good as well. Thanks!

Finished Black Doves last weekend. Enjoyed it, but still prefer the pace and irreverence of Slow Horses if pushed. I think that's because modern spy thrillers are hard. It's too easy to fall back on the tech. Black Doves felt more like a Kill Bill style action thriller. Fantastical, indeed, as @tokenizedhuman points out, but also whimsical. You never really think that the fate of the world is on anyone's shoulders. It's very much a series of personal redemption arcs rolled into a story. This makes me think we're in for a longer series. Those character arcs need time to play out. Now watching The Madness. Anything but whimsical that one.

AK comes across as just a show about bros stealing things but, you're right, the writing is good. It tails off a bit from season 1 and ends with a strange season that seemed to do little more than tie up all the loose ends. OB sounds like it was what the AK guys were doing in high school. 😂

Anyone want to accept @nounishprof's invitation to watch Outer Banks? Personal note: I couldn't even bring myself to watch it during the darkest days of the pandemic- and strike-fueled series voids. I did, however, watch a season of Singles Inferno and untold Spanish melodramas. 😂
