morning light in The Enchantments

this is a 20 mile day hike through protected wilderness. it feels like stepping into an ancient fairytale with crumbling peaks, baby goats, and glacial lakes

as a lifetime Washingtonian it is one of my deepest embarrassments that I haven't hiked the Enchantments yet

lots of camping around the lakes below, but I need to get off my ass and get a permit soon

good point, I've just always wanted my first trip to be one where I don't have to rush

but then again a through hike and camping down below wouldn't be that bad at all

no permit needed for the through hike! it’s a committing day but not as bad as it sounds

I would camp there too, I just haven’t gotten a permit any year that I’ve tried

Previously lived in WA for several years and never once won the permit lotto for camping dates.
