interested in hearing if people agree with this do you want an algo feed? or do you want a feed that shows you everything posted by the people you follow?

I think the vast majority of people want to be seen and the current algo hides that majority from any kind of popular channel or post. Since Dan has Priority mode on, he only sees a minority and not the people who disagree with his algo. Easy to say everyone agrees when you ignore or hide any objections.

I wish the focus of the algo would be surfacing content that you would like from people you follow -and- don’t follow, instead of pushing posts on your feed/channel view that only show because someone had a power badge and make discovering new people you might enjoy interacting with nearly impossible organically.

the thing is you don't need an algo to do that reply bumping used to do it just fine they're trying to use an algo for the sake of using an algo instead of a simple solution

Yeah, I would prefer that. Also preferred things before Priority mode was turned on at all. If we have to have algos, I'd rather see Friend of a Friend (FoaF) than power badge priority. If I am following someone and they are having a conversation with someone I don't, I will probably be interested, vs some random PBU.
