I love dunking on crypto's lack of good real-world use cases as much as the next person, but takes like this are tiresome

you can believe that we haven't done a good job of using this tech yet while also understanding it's obvious the invention of "money without government" is going to completely transform everything

in the future the saddest thing isn't going to be people who didn't pay attention to crypto early

it's going to be people that paid attention, interacted heavily with the industry, and came to the conclusion "yeah it'll only ever be good for gambling"

I'm guilty of this too in my critiques of existing use cases, a lot of this is tinged with "well I live in a wealthy western country and it hasn't changed my life so the use cases aren't there yet"

lot of people don’t known it because it's not in the open but there are a couple groups providing at least a bit financial freedom through crypto to especially women in countries where they aren’t even allowed their own bank account. and there are more "hidden" use cases like that. just one example. small steps.
