I don’t get this. There’s no new stuff to do yet, to draw someone in? Is Base going to convince ppl that shitcoining and NFTs are different over there bc of low tx fees? Here’s a pro Base argument I believe: 1. Layer 2s let dapps abstract away the weirdness of crypto (gas sponsorship etc) 2. Base as a Layer 2 can help mainstream dapps succeed by providing: running start on distribution to CB users; on/off ramp ux; wallet ux; etc 3. Success of dapps on Base —> growth of CB users

100% but Coinbase will create onboarding straight from a CEX to an L2 and likely create incentives to funnel them there Many people I know have bought crypto w CB but have no idea that you can "move it onchain" or do anything w it at all beyond hold it on CB and speculate CB now has reason to create UX to change this

That’s kind of what I’m failing to see. Ethereum, but slightly faster/cheaper? That’s not enough to change the space. Architecture dictates capability, and there’s not a change from existing architecture — privacy is not added, storage is not improved, compute is not more capable.

I respect the team and individuals building this but I agree. The existing user base is a dead argument to me, I don’t want those users, I want users with no preconceived notion or experience of crypto because they won’t ask “what about ____” Going through coinbase or MM is guaranteed unnecessary friction imo

new experiences come on back end of cost reduction, cohesive communities, constant information change, and will to reinforce new behaviors. CB is nearest to legacy money system for non-crypto. They can simplify old-->new rails better than most. non-crypto user X low cost building = new experiences (not new tech) ?
