Nice try but I still think it’s a horrible idea to open up meaningful communication pathways with animals and I stand by that

Are you talking about actual animals? I'm not sure I understand. How would have even be possible?

Using massive amounts of computing power. There are multiple projects in flight to create Rosetta Stones for a variety of species https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/artificial-intelligence-could-finally-let-us-talk-with-animals/

That was an interesting article. I think the idea that we can decipher the nature of language just because we can clearly connect specific vocalizations seems a little ambitious. The idea that we can know exactly what a creature like a whale or even a house cat which has thousands of different vocalizations depending on the breed and individual cat. I can only assume that variance is spread across every potential evolutionary offshoot of every animal on earth. Using AI to solve the unsolvable is always a fun exercise, and I'm all for exploring the full range of the possible. But knowing when a dog says I'm hungry or I'm scared, which are understandable and easily relatable for us to figuring out a pure instinct driven response, which has no human equivalent and is so purely dog brain feels like pure science fiction. But that all being said, be careful what you wish for. If we by some miracle figure out how to talk to them, we in all likelihood won't like what we are going to hear.
