But the fundamental nature of the game means for you to win, someone else does have to lose. It's illogical to think "everyone will lose money" but certainly not everyone will emerge from this meta "financially free" or even close..... I don't really root for anything to fail, it's your money to do whatever you want with, including to be retarded. But I do think it's gross sometimes the lengths crypto goes to, to recruit a lesser fool, and the mental gymnastics that are employed to make it seem respectable

if crypto total market cap keeps growing, doesn't mean that -greater fool- is technically anyone on the future entering those assets at a higher price than you? if you truly believe crypto will keep thriving and becoming more and more an essential part of the financial system globally, I don't think someone else have to lose, at least not -a person- maybe VISA and Mastercard, and all the Banks have to loose, but not necessarily -other people-. Change is painful, but doesn't care about our feelings. Being a bad or good trader, or having gambling addictions or not, are kind aof unrelated to crypto overall, you can trade stocks, you can gamble in casinos after all

You’re taking arguments that pertain to actual blue chips and applying them to the shitcoin or casino of the day You didn’t need to be on FriendTech You don’t need to deploy a shitcoin A lot of you would be better off myself included if I would have taken all the $$$$ I blew on NFTs or this that during the bear and just put it in BTC

an argument for meme coins, the nfts last cycle, icos and defi summer is that it creates an incentive for folks new to crypto to explore the functionality of the space. while definitely not for everyone. I bought a decent amount of nfts last cycle, yet never with the intention of making money off them, more to support various folks who were experimenting, and in the case of axie as a way to connect with a new community. not defending the depths of memecoin mania and shit coins, yet still think they can be a net positive for moving the space as a whole forward. hot potato and all.

I worry about the trade off the community makes with this recruitment strategy. I can speak to dozens of people who are so put off and now won’t even HODL because of the behavior around the casinos So I struggle to see it as net positive Pump fun live streams taking it to a new low too…… When people just buy NFTs to support people the crowd calls them dead :(

yeah that's a good counter point. I haven't talked to too many folks outside of the space who have entered, and the casino mentality especially on solana was/is kinda nuts. I've got a few projects there that I'm excited to see take off and support, yet honestly its mostly been about making profitable trades to pay off debts, save for family stuff, and add to our retirement accounts. part of me is looking forward to going back to playing axie, when I don't feel like I'm going to miss the potential gains on a regular basis in the memecoin arena

I dislike that the best way you have to pay off debts is gambling. Not really crypto critique but a societal one that speaks to a horrible horrible long term rot I can’t see how it gets fixed. Why bother to learn or work or do anything……

well the unfortunate reality of agriculture is that it is very poorly paid work across the board. I think of it as rebalancing capital, and our only debt is our mortgage so there is that. we live a pretty simple life expense wise to match our reality.
