Everyone gives Elon credit for Community Notes, but that was around long before he came on the scene. Community Notes used to be called Birdwatch and it was created in 2021. The maligned Twitter Trust and Safety department invented the idea; Elon just dumped gas on the fire.

I sourced this post from the Wikipedia entry. It’s of course a team effort comprised of product, moderation teams, design and engineering to create a feature like that. But the Trust and Safety team certainly had influence and input and it was created under the old regime, not Elon.

I don’t actually care who did what in the sense of proper credit. I point it out as an example of an awesome innovation resulting from a combination of stereotypically woke + anti woke people/teams as a repudiation of polarization

The irony is that he gets so much credit for the thing that is ultra needed to counter all the bullshit, scams, fake news and misleading ads he made flourish on the platform

I credit him for keeping it among the 20% of the company he didn't shut down at least

He also did not create Tesla, or other companies that he's credited with, but he sure loves to take credit. 😎🙃
