Oh i didn't know Vercel and NextJs were from the same people. TIL. 
FWIW I've been doing all this on Replit, dev and deployment 
they give you credits each month with your membership so if your apps are low usage enough it's all free

Naw it ain’t all that bad (compared to crypto)

TLDR — it’s very easy to deploy next apps on Vercel (a hosting platform built by the same people that created nextjs)

The catch is that Vercel marks up the cost a lot to get you for the ease of deploying 

There’s an element of vendor lockin with the tool that they created and open sourced
