Do people actually consciously make a judgement about quality of service when they tip??! I always just mindlessly add 15-20%. So the whole "tipping incentivizes quality of service" argument has always seemed unrealistic to me. https://x.com/tracewoodgrains/status/1826601506885320775

15-20% is generally insulting to a waiter. I’m not saying this from a position where I’m trying to convince you to change or agree :) but 20% tells them they did a bad job. That’s just the culture.

good I don't live in that culture. I prefer the price upfront and not to do some brain calculations for ordering my food
