Trump says the Greenlandic election showed favor toward him. 

To some extent, he might narrowly be right in that the No. 2 party, the populist Naleraq, wants independence badly and supported closer ties to the U.S. to make it happen. 

But it's not going to be part of the next government, and the party that is calling the shots supports staying closer with Denmark for the time being. 

All parties, Naleraq included, put out a statement last week condemning Trump's attempts to annex the island.
