I have a strange question guys… The thing I hate most about working out is being drenched in sweat. I love the feeling of muscle soreness, but not being wet at the degree of a shower haha. Is there a direct correlation between a good workout and how much you sweat? Can it be effective to build muscles by working out at a slower pace without ending up totally soaked?

I've found that sweating is less correlated with speed or intensity and more with how much you are using your central nervous system (CNS) Eg. I'm new to pilates, but almost every session leaves me drenched in sweat even though it's not a fast-paced workout -- I think it's because I'm asking my CNS to do *a lot*

Wait what kind of exercise are you doing? They all have drastically different "sweating rates" lol

every kind of activity produces heat, that heat has to be dissipated by your body. if the ambient is too hot, you will sweat more than usual. what's the room temp you are working out? try to lower that if you can. I'm a runner, and this is why I like to run outdoor from fall to spring. almost a quarter of the sweat (at lower intensity) I produce during summer. I measured it and I sweat almost 2 litres per hour when is hot outside.

This is a great question. From experience, when you are building muscle, you don't necessarily need to sweat too much. Sweating a lot (at shower level 😅), usually happens when your heart rate goes faster, i.e. doing cardio, running, jogging, cycling, etc. You could alternate between strength training, cardio and a mix. With cardio, if you don't want to sweat that much, but still want a productive workout, try custom workouts with a machine and focus on getting into specific training zones (there are 5 zones). If you stay in zone 3 for longer, you might sweat less and have a productive cardio workout without inducing excessive sweating

I swear a shit ton so I understand the drip there is a correlation because working out creates heat which creates sweat but sweating is not necessary for a good work out. some ppl just don’t sweat that much sweat wouldn’t be an indicator of a good or bad workout, just an indicator of how your body responds to heat

How much sweat depends partly on constitution, but I don't think there is much correlation between building muscle and sweating. I don't sweat much when I work out 😄

I usually walk between 8 - 9 km daily, although right now I have been a little sedentary, without even breaking a sweat.
