time to roast the "reddit mod army" model, given that's it's the closest analogue to the "cozy corners" in practice. by the point Steve Huffman was caught editing other people's comments, there was already an understanding that moderators are consoled by power, instead of being employed, and this is why there are SO MANY SUBREDDITS...because it's fishing topic by topic, community by community, for the 90/9/1 that were early and enjoyed formal power. FC channels have a future once the power is no longer fickle. never cast to some because there's some membership or affinity racket, with an irrational premium on "entering the cozy corner". or just some petty owner/mod that's hiding particular people. it's just legitimate merit. we want the places with the open votes & capture-resistant automod that protect everyone from themselves, and whatever distribution is routed by that. just don't try to make a buyer's market. bring in all the votes, then iterate the weights. it doesn't work "only-cozy".
