Many don't like onchain monetary rewards like tipping/airdrops/boosts because they feel unauthentic I can see that, but also Mr Beast, arguably the top creator in the world, has been rewarding his followers with cold cash and Teslas, while building one of the most loyal followings I've seen What's the difference?

That's one thing I don't get with people. They don't like the tipping meta but if its cash, it's fine? The only difference is you only get it at the end of the season but everything else is the same.

I personally like the transactional nature of tipping and airdrops for interest, attention, and content. These things were already being monetized behind the scenes by social platforms. Why can’t we flip the script by valuing our time, attention, and content, and reward each other for it?

Mr beast is a creator not an artist. Most people here who don’t like tip/reward culture are artists, and the see tips as a distraction/disconnection from art.

Hahaha so true. Heard this sentiment irl recently but for me it has been great from a creator perspective. The extra cash has been letting me experiment more.

Not that much. I find many of his videos tedious for that reason. At this point he's basically running a game show, and that's fine, but not something I personally like to spend a lot of time watching.

I 100% agree but do see a counter. Mr. Beast is also rewarding those who complete tasks/challenges and that's the value they bring to the videos. Casters doing the "🔫 🔁 must be followng" is why I can see people saying it's "unauthentic"

Tips have promising potential. The question for me is why are we incentivizing for Web 2.0 influencers at the expense of Web3 artists? There's room for both in this new space, but we have to move past clicks, likes, engagement, etc and focus on quality ideas, positive building, healthy interactions, etc ✨️

MrBeast rewards regular people with cash and Teslas, building genuine connection and loyalty. In contrast, onchain rewards like tipping often benefit influencers more, making them feel less authentic.

While some find onchain monetary rewards like tipping and airdrops unauthentic, Mr. Beast has successfully built a loyal following by rewarding his fans with cash and Teslas.

Either tipping meta or cash, the value is still the same.

This would not be popular but seems to me if the daily tip allowance was evenly distributed to all users who meet minimum requirements and then the airdrops were based on how many tips a user received- there would be much more valuable content and less engagement farming.
