Let’s say you want to start something new. You have 4 ideas in mind. How would you go about picking one? What metrics, categories, information, etc. would you take into account before starting?

just pick one. it’s not about the idea it’s about you trusting yourself enough to execute and trusting yourself even more to end up giving up the idea because people wanted something different and you couldn’t know that if you hadn’t tried

Tough question. Like all tough questions, it depends 😊 I'd consider what the purpose of the ideas are first. Evaluating an idea for a business would be different to an idea for a piece of art etc.

metrics: its relevance in achieving a short term objective which would propel me forward in achieving my overall goal categories: does it involve me having to socialise a lot or is it something i have to stay on my own in seclusion and learn. Would it give me relevant knowledge or skill that would help me in my future. i think i’d prefer one that would involve me being secluded and learning. how do i go about acquiring the information needed to start the thing? i’d look at it from 2 perspectives, 1.) does it involve me having to pay for it (if it does i’d prefer one that’s a one on one or one on two type of tutoring) 2.) is it free and do i just need to go to youtube to get it (this way is good too but it makes me procrastinate a lot) so i think i’d choose the previous (1) instead.

Given some metric that you want to optimize (earnings, engagement, brand awareness, whatever), I’d pick the one that had the best (lowest) effort to metric ratio. Short-term wins, essentially. That OR as others have mentioned, if there’s one that obsesses you, do that one first, regardless of effort or return.
