Oh how I wish more people understood this. They are public databases (and more). @balajis.eth likened it years ago to how the original iPhone's camera was worse than traditional cameras when measured by old metrics (resolution/lenses), but 100x better when measured by new metrics (connectivity, software, filters, etc). Blockchains are better databases by new metrics-- "every user has root access." When developing onchain-native apps it helps to question "what can be accomplished when every user is a root user?"
