I'm looking at Ethereum's staking contract (https://etherscan.io/address/0x00000000219ab540356cbb839cbe05303d7705fa#code) and wondering why is the design so minimalistic? E.g. why aren't stake withdrawal / rewards processed through the smart contract? What are the design rationale here?
