Zippy's is a restaurant chain that was founded back in 1966 and a staple here locally. When I moved away this is the stuff that I missed the most. Plate lunches, traditionally a variety of meat, 2 scoops rice, a scoop of Macaroni salad are part of our local culture. 

This is pic is something called a Zip Pac, teri beef, spam, fried mahi mahi and fried chicken on a bed of rice and furikake. A perfect reflection of home because of the hodgepodge of ethnic influences. What's the dish/dishes in your hometown that you crave da most?

I see a lot of casts about crêpes lately. I'm French, and my region has made crêpes its specialty, so here’s my recipe and my tips, you’ll know everything.

**Utensils and Cooking:**
* 1 mixing bowl
* 1 whisk
* 1 crêpe pan or billig
* 1 spatula

First of all, crêpes at my place are a weekly tradition, we even have a dinner consisting solely of crêpes. We add salted butter, sugar, jam, chocolate, salted caramel, it's a moment of sharing with friends or family.

**Quantity for 12 crêpes:**
* 250 g of wheat flour
* 50 g of salted butter
* 60 cl of milk 
* 4 large eggs
* 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar
* A pinch of fleur de sel

First, mix the flour, salt, and sugar, then add the eggs to form a large ball. Slowly add the milk to avoid lumps, that's what I do, but some people add the milk first and then the eggs, it's up to you. 👇

That looks amazing! I wanna try. My favorite dish in San Diego is called a Molcajete. It’s this Salsa at the bottom of that dish that keeps it warm and you dip in the carne asada, pollo asada, shrimp, chorizo, grilled cheese, cactus and peppers. All with homemade corn tortillas. I try to go as much as possible lol

Honestly it was better before covid, they made some changes in the way they prep food, centralized it into a big kitchen and its had an impact. But they are legendary. Don't you dare leave without trying a zip pac. ha ha

Zippy's is very much part of the culture! Definitely going back there with my mom for some Portuguese sausage + eggs + rice breakfasts (my fav) when I'm back in Honolulu in Oct/Nov.

They are a chain, so they are everywhere. This is why other places like Denny's and iHOP never took hold here.

I'm not surprised about Eugene U of O and OSU have huge Hawaii clubs and lots of people decide to settle there.

When we moved away from the West Coast, I missed the Hawaiian plate lunches *so* much. One of them was actually called Hodge Podge :D  Thankfully we've got Hawaiian Bros now, which was started by the sons of one of the spots in Eugene.
